Downtown Miami's Major Facelift

Not long ago, Downtown Miami was a forgotten neighborhood…not anymore!  While Brickell may be a little ahead of Downtown in its development, the upcoming massive $1.7B Miami World Center mixed-use project encompassing 6 city blocks will forever change how we look at Downtown Miami. In addition, All Aboard Florida or the Brightline, the new massive light rail project, is building its Miami Central in Downtown making it the transportation hub to the rest of South Florida. Downtown has experienced a true renaissance in the last 15 years.

The condo boom of the early 2000’s created the first wave of residential development in decades. When the market fell, it created the opportunity for locals to buy in the center of town and create a critical mass for new life. With all of Miami’s new development, Flagler Street, now undergoing re-gentrification, features some significant historic Miami buildings which give the area a character all its own.  Bayfront Park is host to a number of concerts and events. The advent of new Whole Foods, along with restaurants of international stature, like Zuma, have cemented the area’s appeal and upward trajectory. The very active Downtown Development Authority has been at the forefront researching and re-invigorating this new urbanism in Miami.
