Brickell
Brickell has always been the banking and financial center of Miami, but in recent years, it has seen a huge resurgence and has now become one of the most desirable urban living neighborhoods in Miami. In my view, Brickell breaks down into 3 zones. There is the hip part of Brickell which runs down South Miami Avenue with new modern concept hotels like East at Brickell City Center and SLS. This area full of bars and restaurants buzzes with young life. “Brickell sophisticated” occupies the space from Brickell Avenue to the water and has high end condo buildings like Jade and all of Brickell Key. Here you will find Le Petit Maison and other high end restaurants. Finally, there is “Brickell Old School” which runs from where Brickell Avenue makes a turn at SE 15th Road all the way to the Rickenbacker Causeway. This is home to the older buildings of Brickell with fabulous water views.
The main thoroughfare of the financial district on Brickell Avenue, is lined with trees and among its commercial offices are condos and hotels, such as the Four Seasons and Conrad. Most of the major banks of both North and South America are represented here, as well as, some of the biggest law firms. Just south, more established condos line the shores of Biscayne Bay. This has always been an upscale Miami neighborhood, but building on the success of Mary Brickell Village, the area has expanded and boomed with new development in recent years. Brickell City Centre is the new centerpiece to this area, with a large modern shopping mall and two residential towers. There are other terrific living options in buildings with stellar amenities, like Brickell Heights, Brickell Flatiron, Bond, Echo Brickell, SLS Lux, among others. While not long ago one thought of Miami as a touristy beach town, this area’s new inland residential developments are redefining luxury living on the mainland.
